Buy a Harp that You Can Carry
You will occasionally need to bring your harp to your lessons and definitely to performances, so it should be light enough for you or your child to carry. Be sure to try carrying the harp when it is, in its case, fully loaded with books, legs, etc.
Buy a Harp With Full Levers
If your budget allows, buy a harp with full levers. Levers allow the harp to change keys. Your child can learn on a harp with no levers for about 6 months before you will need to change to a harp with levers.
Harp Purchase or Rentals
If you want to rent or buy a used harp in California or Denver, Colorado, here are some suggestions that I recommend. My students and I have had good experiences with these people and companies in the past. As with everything, I encourage you to ensure that these are the right companies to do business with prior to making a financial commitment.
- California
- Bay Area California: Jim Peek – rentals
- Bay Area California: Harps, Etc. in Walnut Creek – rentals and purchases
- Colorado
- Denver: Harps Nouveau – rentals and purchases.
